The University of Miami’s primary objective in awarding need based financial aid is to assist as many students as possible, taking into account possible sources of funding from the student, the custodial parent, and the noncustodial parent.
Noncustodial parent information is required of students whose parents are neither married nor widowed. In certain circumstances the University of Miami will consider waiving the requirement for the CSS Profile from noncustodial parents. Waivers based solely on your noncustodial parent’s unwillingness to contribute or submit application materials will not be considered.
Initial Waiver Requests:
To submit a waiver request:
• Complete the Noncustodial Parent Waiver Form at IDOC.
• Submit a signed third-party letter or supporting documentation. Please note that waiver forms will not be considered without a third-party letter or supporting documentation. Third party letters must be from a professional or agency on letterhead. Letters from family members or friends will not be considered.
Students who had a Noncustodial Parent Waiver approved by our office in a previous academic year do not need to reapply for a waiver each year.
