COVID-19 Financial Aid Appeal

The decision to invest in a University of Miami education was the best decision you made to shape a bright future. COVID-19 has created unprecedented challenges for our families. The purpose of this appeal form is to allow the consideration of a change of financial circumstances that occurred during late in 2020 and/or continue into the current 2021 tax year as a result of reasons related to COVID-19. If your change of financial circumstances, such as loss of employment, was not directly related to COVID-19 and occurred in 2020, please submit the Request for Review Form found at miami.edu/reviewmyaid

This form is not to be used to submit an appeal for an increase unless a change in your financial situation has occurred, such as the loss of employment. Please be sure you first speak with a financial aid advisor to determine if your changes will impact the student’s financial aid eligibility before submitting a 2021 COVID-19 Financial Aid Appeal.

No additional need-based institutional aid will be awarded until the student has accepted all offered self-help, including federally subsidized direct loans and federal work study. Submission of this 2021 COVID-19 Financial Aid Appeal does not guarantee additional grant funding. Funding is limited and appeals will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis once the appeal and all required documentation have been submitted.

This form is intended to be completed as a family to explain your change of financial circumstances directly related to COVID-19. Listed below are the special circumstances that may be considered. Please select the situation that applies to you and your family. This review is for the 2021-2022 academic year only. Decisions are based on documentation provided and parameters previously established by the University. Please note that additional information may be requested and students are encouraged to monitor both their email as well as their CaneLink Student Center for further information.
