Donor Scholarships

Endowed/gift donor scholarships are awarded through the Student Financial Assistance and Employment Office by submission of financial aid applications such as the FAFSA and CSS College Board Profile.
There are several University of Miami donor scholarships that require an additional application and further information. Please see below for a list of these scholarships:

Alex Rodriguez Scholarship

To qualify for the Alex Rodriguez Scholarship you must:

  1. Be a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Miami,
  2. Have a G.P.A of 3.0 or higher,
  3. Be a current member of the Boy's and Girl's club,
  4. File a current year FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and CSS Profile

Chick-fil-A Bowl Scholarship

This award is given to students from the National Football Foundation's Play It Smart Program in Atlanta, GA. Chick-fil-A Bowl Scholarship/Play It Smart recipients will receive the renewable award up to a total of four years or until they graduate as long as funding remains available and the student remains in good standing at the University of Miami. Should no Play It Smart Students be identified, then all graduates from Georgia High Schools will be considered for a non-renewable annual award with preference given to those from Metropolitan Atlanta High Schools.


Robert G Chin Scholarship Fund

Awarded to one student each year who meets the following criteria:

  1. A full-time student in good standing at the University of Miami,
  2. A student that has been affected adversely by a cancer diagnosis in the family, including the student or any member of the student's family. *Must submit an essay on how they meet this criteria (minimum 300 words).
  3. A student who demonstrates financial need based on the current year FAFSA and CSS Profile applications.

S.M. Fogel September 11 Memorial Scholarship

In order to qualify for scholarship, you must:

  1. Be a dependent child of a person who lost their life in the air or on the ground during the tragic events of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center, Pentagon, or Shanksville.
  2. Be a full-time student in good standing at the University of Miami.

Nicaraguan Student Scholarship

To qualify for the Nicaraguan Student Scholarship you must:

  1. Be of Nicaraguan heritage or born in Nicaragua,
  2. Be a United States citizen or permanent resident,
  3. Be working toward a first baccalaureate degree at the University of Miami enrolled in a select major (see application for list of majors);
  4. Be in good academic standing with the University (2.0 Cumulative GPA or higher),
  5. Demonstrate financial need as determined by current UM need analysis policies upon receipt of a processed current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and CSS Profile.

University of Miami Broward Women's Guild Scholarship

Applicant must be a female graduate of a Broward County high school with a 3.0 cumulative average. Also, the applicant must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at the University of Miami, demonstrate financial need, and plan to enroll for the Fall semester at the University of Miami.

Amount of Scholarship: Up to $2,000

University of Miami Women's Guild Scholarship

Women, age 20 or over, whose previous academic achievement has been above average. Applicants must be currently accepted to or enrolled in a degree-seeking program the University of Miami, be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours a semester or more) and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. Applicants must be residents of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe or Palm Beach County prior to attending the University of Miami.

Amount of Scholarship: Up to $10,000

WWMA & UM Black Alumni Society Scholarship 

Students interested in applying for either the WWMA or BAS scholarships must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at UM
  • Have a cumulative grad point average of
    • 3.0 GPA or higher for WWMA or
    • 2.75 GPA for BAS 
  • Demonstrate financial need based on a current year FAFSA and CSS Profile Applications 
  • Applications must be submitted to the Office of Academic Enhancement
